Why you should be paying for branded keywords?

Postby technologic on Mon Jul 21, 2008 5:55 am

Hey folks,
Just wanted to share this piece of information with you. I tried doing a Google search on the world's best consumer brands buying their own branded keywords over the internet. I was surprised to know that as many as 5 out of the top ten major brands were not interested in buying their brand words :o . The brands which are not buying their keywords on Google in this top 10 list include IBM, Nokia, Intel, McDonalds and Disney. I guess these brands are too overconfident that their keywords will not be misused in the future, so maybe they don't even care too much about the issue. It would be natural for them to think that since they are already top players in their field and earn natural top rankings in search results, spending a few thousand dollars on buying terms on Google would be a sheer waste of money. Experts also say that a few companies have not even integrated search into all of their marketing campaigns and these companies also believe that other companies should not be allowed to bid on their branded keywords. All this seems worthwhile but can these brands really afford to take a chance and go without playing safe? Only time will tell. What do you say :?:

Hey everyone,

I came across this piece of information in which they were discussing why top companies need to buy branded keywords. I completely agree that it is always better to be one step ahead of your competitors. So being readily available when someone is looking for you online is always a great advantage and what better way than securing your keywords for the future. Also it is a well-known fact there more conversions come up from branded terms. Consumers are known to declare their level of interest in a product or a service by their searches. Recent statistics show that branded terms have been providing retail campaigns with 776 p.c. higher click-through rate, 75 p.c. lower cost-per-click and 126 p.c. higher conversion rate as compared to a campaign using keywords which are non-branded.

So now you know who has the edge...

Personally, I feel that branded keywords provide you with a better control over your website and related sources. You can control your messages and synchronize them your PR and advertisements so that everything makes sense together and your campaign turns out more rounded-off. You can also keep a better watch on your landing page and the URL, so the chances of your customer getting mislead really slims down. Thus the search that the user conducts about the kind of products that you sell, actually fuels your brand-building process. So paying for branded keywords is any day is great choice. Spending a few dollars really goes a long way... :D

Paying for branded keywords is getting bigger by the day as more than 50 percent of the web traffic today has something or the other to do with search engines. people know that when they are searching for items on the Internet they will be able to view a large number options, hence get more options to choose from. Like, for example, go to Yahoo! are type in the search keywords "Special K". A Special video along with the brand's logo will pop up on your screen. This is a very smart idea: not only are they advertising their product, they are also directing targeted consumers. The innovations have just begun. look around you and you'll see.

Being a developer, it really irks me no end… Whenever people like me are on the lookout for branded keywords, we always end up paying money more than what we basically are supposed to. But I guess my case would have been entirely different if mine was as big as a Nokia or an IBM. I would also have been sitting back without any worries and would not have been buying any keywords.. It all depends on how big your brand is!!! When you are a big brand as Nokia, you can afford to relax and let the good times roll… ;)

But when you are an enterprise where you need to implement good keywords so that the market value of the website increases, you need to get pumped up like me so that business keeps flowing in all the time. It is people like me who keep thinking about competition all the time and who eat, drink and sleep work need to bother about purchasing branded keywords so that we stay miles ahead from all the existing competition and are also able to gain credibility in the market. Without these so called ‘branded keywords’, small time entrepreneurs like me would not have any standing in the market and would not be considered at all for any kinds of services. So this would be my advice to all of my friends who are budding entrepreneurs in this line of work, that get someone who can give you these branded keywords so that your website keeps rolling and keeps getting business.

Well if you don’t want to pay for your branded keywords, then why have them in the first place, dude?
But, if you think they are imperative for your business and will give a big boost to your organic search engine rankings then you sure have to shell out the money it takes to get the “bded keyword”. I as ple as that!

Branded keywords help you be visible to your prospective customers and wards off your competitors. It is a good move, any day!

I can think of several reasons why you would want to pay for it

Guess what; for starters….all yoor most of your traffic comes from organic search engines by those people who are using Google etc., for navigation, searching or convenience.

These search engines display a greater range of options for the consumers to view and provide different angles to their search keywords. Therefore going to Yahoo or Google and making a search for anything and you will see that the more innovative the keyword with more branded words in it, the higher it ranks.

Be in control man! By getting branded paid keywords you can control the key messages and the URL that is displayed and keeping them in synch with the marketing and advertising campaigns of the product. This in turn fuels your own brand building.

Branded keywords makes your Search engine marketing and other forms of online advertising campaigns more effective and your product and brand visibility increases manifold.

For example, when MasterCard runs a television commercial more and more consumers use the search engines to learn more about it and if your site has the branded keyword it shows up so much higher on the search ranking.

There’s no doubg the fact that more conversions come from branded keywords

We all know that , don’t we that…cumers usibranded terms have already got faith in that word and have a fair idea about what they are expecting from that brand and by associating with it we do have a better chance of being noticed and also turning customer curiosity into sales!! Hope for the best.
So bid on branded keywords and let your organic search engine results soar.

I absolutely do not agree to your views and think that what you are saying is grossly overrated. In fact the more well known the product brand is the more will be the number of clicks on it …true…bthe catch is teat more will your ranking be lowered because there would already be so many takers for it.
Elementary my dear Watson!!! (…as rlock Holmes would have said!)

A recent web survey shows that in the last year and a half total daily clicks on brand terms has dropped from 500 clicks per day to a low of 100 clicks a day. So people are not judging a product by its name only and are using the net to look for newer products continuously.

What most people forget when wanting to just buy in “brandpaid keywords” is thaot everyone is looking for branded products. People are using the net to come across the latest innovative products that cost them much less than branded ones. So by just banking on these branded keywords you are losing out on your prospective clients. Plus, a great factor to help you in decision making is the prohibitive cost of “Paid bran keywords”.
So befornvesting your money in bidding for them just think it over…if it is realworth the price paid. Remember, someone said” Profit is the ard for innovation” and your innovat edge may just get clouded behind a paid branded keyword which already has a brand image in the mind of the customer you are targeting!
