Postby helen.carter on Thu Nov 06, 2008 7:40 pm

hey I have known that social media websites are real rage these days and everyone is wanting to be apart of them. Whether it is twitter or stumble upon or facebook. And each of them have unique features. I have received a project from one of my clients to market their business through these websites by creating profiles and communities. I only know about facebook…does anyone know about twitter and other top social networking sites...and how do you market websites through them….

hey I am on tweeter…it is the top most social networking site and a great place to market you and your business here. It is a must recommended by everyone when it comes to social media networking. It’swonderful combination of blogging and instant messaging. I will tell you how to go about it…
Yoirst need to register yourself on the site and trust me registration is damn easy. Then you make a tweet for yourself. A tweet is actually your status or who you are or what’s on r mind. If you keep this status interesting and humorous then you can surely catch a lot of attention and readers to your profile. After you have registered you just need to look for people who are within the niche of your business and will make prospective customers. My suggestions, always build your credibility first, make friends on a SNS and then start marketing… or youuld loose their trust as well as your sales. You know you can tweet your own links as well and recommend other sites or blogs where you have your back links or your articles. Marketing on SNS is cool, just don’t over do because these sites have pretty stringent rules about spamming!

Hi… I am on tweeter and I won’t disagree that it is a great SNS...but you know I think if your businesses is for the masses then Linked In is the ultimate social networking site. It has gained enormous popularity in the last few years. And you know here you can find anyone form a professional to a social worker. The site has a tremendous following in professionals as it allows you to have a detailed professional profile. The site is also a great platform for networking and to get together all the like minded people. I think it’s a great platform for marketing. Like every other SNS, you got to register yourself and then create an impressive profile. The best part about Linked In is that it allows you to put testimonials as well, so if you have a Linked In profile by the name of your business then you can have testimonials from clients or visitors who have visited your website…this will increase your credibility and your profile will sound more authentic. This is an excellent way to indirectly market your website without actually asking or persuading people to visit it by posting links or sending requests.

I also think that Technocrati is a great site if you wish to promote your website through your blogs. Firstly I think blogs are great way of using the two effective tools of online marketing- SEO and article marketing. You know you can optimize the content of your blog and have back links on your blog articles. You know what dear…your blog will not only provide you a medium to interact with your clients and visitors but also help you keep a tab on your website traffic as well as know the consumer’s mindset about your products, services and your website. You know it is always advisable to host your blog independently and not on your website because that way your marketing motives are very obvious and very clear. All that you need to do to register your blog at Technocrati is to put a simple code on your blog and ping it to prove that it is your blog. Once that job is complete, your posts will carry a Technocrati link that will direct a visitor to your blog along with all the other archived material. Through this brilliant site you can increase the traffic to your site by folds.

Hello mates…wasup? I can see that there is a lot of discussion happening on SNS for online marketing…so I though even I should put some of my inputs! See you know... basically all social networking sites work on the same principle…and that is networking! I think the key to successful marketing is through building network by sending friend requests and posting thoughtful relevant comments so that you can get the right kind of traffic. And trust me all those people who think they can send bulk impersonal mails and still make business…ohhh… dude, you need a reality check! Nobody gives damn to these spam junk mails. You got to be personal and relevant to actually hook people. You know the best way to build a reliable network is to go on their individual pages also, comment on them and leave back links and or links to your profiles so that after getting impressed from your comments they can visit your site and get connected!

what is this tweeter thing…I guess the concerned person does not even know the name of the website properly…its twitter…not tweeter! And to be honest, I have not even checked out the website properly…why should I??? We all know that Facebook is the undisputed ruler in this field…Then why do we need a tweeter? All those who are chatting about social networking sites in this forum, I would request you guys to log onto Facebook instead of this Tweeter thing.. It is tried and tested. You will never come across a person who criticizes Facebook. My friends, Facebook is tested, Tweeter is not!

You just need to create a profile which looks nice and which is visible to people. Attach your picture to your profile if you wish to, although it is not mandatory. There are more than 125 million users on Facebook. If you have a business, Facebook is the perfect place for an effective promotion. There are lots of people who are present to hear you out…Hey but there is one thing that is common between Facebook and Tweety..oh its Tweeter. That is if you try to go overboard with the promotion, then to set the record straight, your promotional campaign will out rightly be deemed spam. If you let that happen, then you are done. The game will be over. So be smart and just like a true businessman, take up a strategy and go ahead with your work. Make sure there are no loopholes.

I am totally with you mate! Facebook has overtaken its nearest competitor MySpace in terms of the number of users who keep logging onto it in a month. In terms of traffic, Facebook has a ranking within the top 5 throughout the world. It can be seen all over the place. There are teenagers who keep Facebooking all the time, old people taking about religion and faith and finally appalling businessmen like you and me who promote their products over it. It is the place where you can do some sensible marketing of your product without busting your head. So the wisest thing that you can do is log onto to Facebook and start advertising. And one more site that I will vote for is LinkledIn. The website has raked up enormous popularity over the past couple of years and is proving to be tough competition for facebook.

There are all sorts of people on LikedIn who will be ready to do business with you. As far as the reception goes, that depends on you as to how well you are in your craft. It also allows a user to put in his testimonials. That way you keep receiving testimonials from all those visitors and clients who come to visit your website. The more visitors you get, the more bona fide your website keeps becoming. And get a smart picture clicked which you can post on your profile so that the users feel that you are here for business and not to monkey around. These steps will help you a long way.

Lol….Tweeter!!! Hahahaha, I haven’tughso hard in ages. I sure hope, (for your sake, Tweeter-dude) that the developers of the site never find this page…or ’e up soseriously bad karma. Anyway, back to spam, before anyone accuses me of spamming and not sticking to business.

Facebook really is the best SNS I’ve comeross.’ve tripace aninkedIn bpersonally I think Facebook is the site that has the greatest potential to do business from. It’s a fun sitnd easy tavigate thrh. Once you register and make a couple of contacts, you should make sure to leave a comment now and again, so that you seem like a regular guy and not some random bot who’s just workinn programmi It’s essent to e your contacthe impression being genuine. So that later when you do start dropping hints about your business, you can be sure that you will be heard. Getting your message across is half the battle one. When your pages are linked back to theirs and traffic slowly starts coming your way, then you can use less subtle methods of attracting attention to your business.

That’s the practical tg to do.
