Like you said, even I am not an authority on this field of bulk email marketing but after I read your piece I did a bit of research for my own sake and I am ready to drop some knowledge on you all.
Actually, even I hadn’t fully realized the true potential of email marketing till I read a few pieces on it. It can seriously cause quick profits surges. Plus there are other advantages as well. Like there is no delay in the visualization of results. You will be able to witness the results very fast and sometimes even within minutes of sending emails. There is also the cost factor. E mailing is free so there aren’t any postal or printing or related charges. You can mass market yourself for free. If you follow the right way of email marketing, you will be able to witness extremely high response rates.
Everything sounds well and good until you come to the crux of the situation. In this case, the biggest hurdle you will have to cross is the S- word. Yes I am talking about spamming. You all have heard about it and this is where many marketing campaigns end up on the wrong side. What most people think is that because the email is free, they can send out tons of mails to random people hoping for a few responses but this is a real bad idea. The previous mentioned approach is a real short sighted one and does not translate into good results. Plus there are numerous risks involved so I say don’t do it at all.
What the accepted form of marketing is called the permission email marketing. There are major differences between spamming and permission email marketing. And do not confuse it with those tons of free email addresses or those CDs with millions of ids. Permission marketing is something else while rest is all spamming. And spamming can lead you into some serious problems. Shutdown of sites, cancellation of ISPs, and even blacklisting and boycotting from the whole web are not uncommon outcomes of spamming. There is even a legislation which will make spamming illegal and overall a punishable offence. You can get great results using permission emailing and there is no risk at all.
But I don’t know too much about permission email marketing? If anyone here does, do tell me all that you can.
