I am neither a follower nor do I trounce Link farming .I rather have a balanced view of it. I do agree with some of your points and with some points given by the others in the forum. Like all things it is not the thing which in itself is bad and needs to be denounced, nor is it an exceptional virtue, it is just a method that needs to be understood and used judiciously .If our understanding of this is clear then we can easily handle Link Farming and use it to our advantage.
I do agree that:
• Link farms do get visitors and attracts traffic to your site.
• I also agree that sometimes (or rather most of the times) the links are unrelated and such a waste of time if you click on them.
• At the same time, some useful links in content are necessary and helpful in getting the complete picture of the content and helps the readers who want to get more info about the product. But the catch is to keep it relevant….
When you get links to your website, search spiders view it a vote for your site. However, … its not so easy. The value of that vote depends on the ranking of the linking site, how may outgoing links it has, the number of incoming links on it and whether it is an "authority" site according to the Search engines.
All of you, who thought you could just dodge the search spiders, listen up…Search spiders and their sophisticated algorithms have become pretty good at recognizing fake links from the genuine one and are quick to punish such a site by banning it from its rankings all together!
So do not try your smart act or you’ll be punished real bad.
